The closure, which will be completed by the end of April 2002, will result in the loss of 70 jobs. "This was a difficult decision, but one that promotes the long-term viability and competitiveness of LNP," says Richard Burns, president of LNP Americas. The Santa Ana Plant is one of LNP's four North American compounding facilities and one of nine globally. Custom compounds manufactured at the Santa Ana facility will be transitioned over the next several months to LNP's North American plants in Thorndale, PA; Columbus, IN; and San Luis Potosi, Mexico.
Exton, PA-based LNP Engineering was the first custom compounder on the West Coast, according to Burns. It was also the last to leave, as RTP Co. and Polyone Corp. left in 2001 and 1999 respectively.
