"Obviously, he is one of the biggest developers in the city, and we represent the commercial and residential development industry," DCBIA executive vice president Gail Edwards explains to GlobeSt.com. "Our whole goal is development throughout the city. We have quite a list of prominent developers who have been president, and Bill is a very qualified and well-respected commercial developer in the city."

DCBIA also elected three new vice presidents, including George Washington University counsel Charles K. Barber, Metropolis Development Company partner Merrick T. Malone, and CarrAmerica Development, Inc. president James S. Williams. A new secretary and treasurer were also put in place. "[These are] volunteer positions," Edwards says. "We feel very fortunate when people in the community commit their time to the leadership of this organization."
