Cordish will develop the $60 million mixed-use, mostly retail, complex near the entrance to the Atlantic City Expressway. Projecting a summer of 2003 grand opening, the developer will bring such outlet retail names as Tommy Hilfiger, Timberland, Mikasa, Liz Claiborne and Guess, to name a few, to the market. The complex is about 75% pre-leased, according to company officials.
The tenant roster of 70 or so stores will also include a number of restaurants. The open-air complex, which will be configured like a retail neighborhood rather than a traditional mall, will feature extensive landscaping, fountains and other pedestrian-friendly amenities.
CRDA itself is providing about half of the money to get the project done. The state agency utilizes revenues from Atlantic City's casinos to assist in the development of projects in the state's urban centers. Cordish has been involved in similar projects in Baltimore, Houston and Charleston.
