John Parsley and Coy Davidson, both of the Houston office of Colliers International, represented the building owner, 3815 Montrose Blvd. LP. Parsley tells GlobeSt.com that the owner acquired the property in a sealed bid process from the state. The 42-year-old, 28,123-sf building was the former Statesman National Life Insurance building. The state's insurance regulating body occupied the building after Statesman went bankrupt.
Parsley says the owners, led by general partner Claude Wynn Interests, succeeded in its bid for the property because it sought to renovate rather than raze the structure and convert it into multifamily use. Howard W. "Chip" Horne, Jr. of Cushman & Wakefield of Texas Inc.'s Houston office represented Curtis & Windham in the lease negotiations.
