The new tenants will fill anchor space formerly occupied by Albertson's Supermarket and Cal Stores. Save-A-Lot Foods, a discount grocery store, signed a 10-year, $2.1 million lease for 15,000 sf. Save-A-Lot Foods is a division of Supervalu, the 10th largest supermarket retailer in the U.S. with more than 950 stores nationwide.
The Salvation Army, a well-known national nonprofit organization with 1,000 stores in the U. S., also signed a 5-year, $1 million lease for 12,000 sf.
Gambro Healthcare Inc, an international healthcare group headquartered in Sweden, executed a 10 year, $1.6 million lease for 7,040 sf in the former Cal Stores building. Gambro will use the space for an outpatient renal dialysis clinic and medical offices.
Chris Rink of BRE Commercial/ NAI's San Diego office represented the landlord, Voit Rolando Partners, LLC in all the transactions and Save-A-Lot Foods. Fred Ernst of The Ernst Company represented The Salvation Army and Bob Rush of U.S. Realty Group represented Gambro Healthcare Inc.
Rolando Plaza was purchased by Voit Development of Newport Beach last spring and is currently being refurbished as new tenants are being brought in. With the signing of these new tenants, Rolando Plaza is now 85% leased.
According to Rink, the center's leasing agent, the area is experiencing a dramatic revitalization due to the 12-acre Ray and Joan Kroc Community Center whose first phase is scheduled to open in May 2002. Rolando Plaza's location adjacent to the Kroc Center has generated increased interest from national retailers.
