"In our negotiations, we would give some money to the state," Beverly Wright, spokesperson for the tribe, which is based here, tells GlobeSt.com. Wright adds that she could not be specific on the amount the state would receive.
A gaming casino, like the Foxwoods casino in Connecticut, requires additional legislation in order to be built in this state. In its pitch to win public support for the casino, the tribe has emphasized that hundreds of millions of dollars are leaving the state as Massachusetts residents flock to casinos in Connecticut, which allows gaming casinos.
Wright says that the tribe has acquired a site in southeastern Massachusetts but she declines to reveal its exact location. The tribe has tried to develop a gaming casino in the state before but was unable to get legislative support for the deal.
