The city council voted Tuesday to allow developer Whitaker Investment Corp. to build the 174-unit Bonita Sweetwater Condominiums project.
Also part of the plan is an expansion of Sweetwater Road and a sidewalk along the south side of the road. The developer also will finish a drainage system, put in street lights and add a traffic signal at Calmoor Street and Fairlomas Road.
The gated community with a pool and tot lots will be built east of Plaza Bonita Shopping Center, on the south side of Sweetwater Road. Construction may begin in early 2003.
The two-and three-bedroom, two-story units will range from 1,370 to 1,640 sf, according to Whitaker officials, and range in price from the low to mid-$200,000's.
