Hotel developer Jonathan Byrd is the owner in a cooperative venture with the city. The Wingate Inn project is Byrd's third hotel in town. He also owns a Holiday Inn Express and Hampton Inn & Suites. The Wingate Inn is geared toward business travelers, boasting a design with state-of-the-art communication amenities in the offing for each room.
Lamb Architects is the project designer and the Reed Group is handling interior design. Summit Builders is the project's general contractor.
The hotel is going up on 2 1/2 acres of a 40-acre retail site that's under development by Palm Valley Cornerstone, a SunCor entity. The developer also is using Summit Builders to construct a 165,000-sf Lowe's Home Improvement store in the project area.
