"Raytheon is exploring cost-effective opportunities to relocate to more modern facilities," Amy Hosmer, spokesperson for Raytheon, tells GlobeSt.com. Hosmer emphasizes that the company, one of the nation's largest defense contractors, is committed to staying in the area and the move is solely related to the company's desire to be in more updated space.
Hosmer notes that it is still too early to know what the company is looking for in terms of criteria and measurements. Raytheon has recently gone through a series of layoffs but Hosmer says that the relocation has nothing to do with that. Two of the buildings here are used for corporate staff, while the third building is used as a laboratory. The three properties comprise an aggregate 361,000 sf. The company employs about 87,000 people.
