Peggy Meredith of the Houston office of Colliers International represented Netflix in the lease negotiations. She tells GlobeSt.com that she was charged with finding warehouse space near a post office. Netflix rents DVDs through the mail, she says, in competition with a similar service from competitor, Blockbuster. The nearby post office is located at 801 Franklin.
The company found shipping from its California base took too long and headed t Houston for an incoming and outgoing warehouse to handle orders and provide next-day delivery on rentals. DVDs are ordered on the company's Web site from a collection of more than 11,000 titles. Reggie Bowman of Bowman Real Estate Co. represented the building owner, Roy Murray III.
