The county occupies one building of a 156,000-sf, five-building complex. The buildings are 20 years old and are currently 90% occupied. Peggy Meredith with the Houston office of Colliers International handled the transaction. Sam Hawkins of Houston is the building owner.

Hawkins tells GlobeSt.com that the county uses the fully air-conditioned building for administrative offices, a training-and-conference facility and distribution center. More specifically, county records indicate the facility is used to distribute materials to its 25 branch locations through an in-house delivery system. The office also serves as the central point for the library's network and circulation system. The administrative office portion of the building houses the library's financial services, materials selections, acquisitions and cataloging departments.
