The new facility, known as the Chapin Medical Building, will encompass 19,152 sf at build-out. It will rise at 419 Jenks Circle, with a 70-ft pedestrian bridge connecting the new addition to Chapin's existing facility here. Aside from office space, the new building will contain a 60-seat theater, a communications equipment room, a warehouse and a kitchen.
Designed by Newport Beach-based Watkins/Baile & Associates, the two-story office facility will be built with a specialized FM 200 fire-protection system and future emergency power generation. The building will be constructed of steel, wood, cast-in-place concrete, masonry, veneer and stucco. Wentz Group will handle the project's construction, as the San Carlos-based builder has recently been awarded a $3-million contract by Mark C. Johnson Trust. Completion is slated for January 2003.
