The seminars will address topics such as security and emergency planning, liability and other legal issues, including risk assessment and insurance; heating, ventilation and air conditioning security; and premises security.
The audio seminar series will begin April 26, with the three subsequent audio conferences scheduled for May 10, May 17 and May 31. Each of the seminars will include a live question and answer session, a complimentary cassette tape, security checklists and other seminar materials.
The first audio seminar, "Emergency Preparedness and Security Planning," is scheduled for April 26 from noon to 2 p.m. The program's panelists include Carlos Villarreal, director of security, TrizecHahn Office Properties, Chicago; Mel Basye, director of security and technology, FederalProtective Service, Washington, D.C.; Dave Frable, fire protection engineer, General Services Administration, Chicago; Thomas O'Brien, manager, Fire Protection & Safety Team, Technical Support Services Branch, General Services Administration, Chicago; and John Odermatt, deputy director, New York City's Office of Emergency Management, N.Y.
Each seminar will be delivered via telephone to eliminate travel expenses and time away from the office. Registration fees per seminar for BOMA members are $175 per site; fees for National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) and National Association of Industrial and Office Properties (NAIOP) members are $200 per site. The fee for non-members is $225 per site. Registrants can save $100 if they register for all four programs at the same time.
