Financing for Fort Branch and Truman's Landing came from the Travis County Housing Finance Corp., the City of Austin and Texas Department of Housing and Community Affairs. A grand opening is set for today, with city and state housing officials signed up to attend.
The two- and three-bedroom apartments target families with incomes at or below 60% of the area's median income. The median income for a family of four in the Austin area is $54,400.
In developing Fort Branch, Campbell-Hogue teamed with the Austin YMCA to establish an after-school program at the complex's 3,000-sf youth center. The program will be open to the complex's residents and residents in the surrounding neighborhood.
David Saling, Campbell-Hogue's project manager in Austin, said the company worked closely with neighborhood residents and government officials to develop the project.
The complex is positioned at 5800 Techni Center Dr. near its intersection with Ed Bluestein Boulevard in East Austin. The two and three-story garden-style buildings have composition shingle roofs, stucco and plank exteriors. The complex has a community building with a computer/learning center, exercise room, swimming pool and spa. It is surrounded by greenbelt for recreational activities.
Campbell-Hogue plans a similar affordable multifamily project on East Sixth Street, called the Villas on Sixth. The company says it is the first such development with a Sixth Street address.
