Prior to Trans Africa's move to the structure back in 1993, 1744 served as the home of the German Embassy. In addition to Trans Africa's offices, the headquarters also contained the organization's 6,000-volume Arthur R. Ashe, Jr. foreign policy library. Trans Africa's new home is in the building at 1426 31st St. The German Marshall Fund has relocated from its space at 11 Dupont Circle.
Speaking to GlobeSt.com about the fund's new location, West, Lane & Schlager Realty Advisors vice president Mindy W. Saffer says, "It is a perfect property for the German Marshall Fund image." Saffer's company represented the buyer and Pardoe Real Estate represented the seller.
