American Skiing is asking a Denver federal court to declare that Triple Peak is only entitled to a $500,000 break-up fee.
On March 26, the day American was scheduled to sell Steamboat Springs to the Mueller group, it cancelled the deal at the last minute. Instead, it sold its Heavenly Ski Resort on the California-Nevada border to Vail Resorts Inc. the same day it was scheduled to sell the Steamboat Springs resort. With the sale to Vail, American Skiing Co. decided to keep Steamboat.
