The mixed-use development would add 200,000 sf of commercial space and 50 units of senior housing. The project is expected to be under way by fall. To help finance the project, a $3.5-million tax-increment financing district was established.
The existing Unidale Mall, considering any eyesore by city officials but frequented by nearby residents, would be torn down the make way for the new development.
