The Alabama retailer plans to open an 80,000-sf, two level Saks Fifth Avenue store by fall 2004 at the 1.3-million-sf Triangle Town Center which opens Aug. 14 of this year.

The development cost of the structure wasn't disclosed in a prepared statement. But area construction industry estimators tell GlobeSt.com on condition of anonymity the store will probably be built at about $200 per sf or a total $16 million.

The statement didn't disclose Sak's plans to lease or own the building. The Richard E. Jacobs Group of Cleveland, OH is developing Triangle Town Center.

Saks Fifth Avenue Enterprises comprises 61 Saks Fifth Avenue stores and 52 Saks Off 5th stores. Saks Inc. also operates its Saks Department Store Group with 243 department stores under the names of Parisian, Proffitt's, McRae's, Younkers, Herberger's, Carson Pirie Scott, Bergner's and Boston Store.
