The new schemes will have a combined value of £265 million ($387 million) and mean that Unite now operates will be operational in 30 UK towns and cities. And there are now nine UK cities where Unite has more than 1,000 beds open or under development.
For instance in Liverpool, another 1,382 beds have been acquired, subject to planning. This will bring Unite's presence in the city to 2,354 beds meaning it houses 8% of all university students in the city.
In order to cope with its burgeoning development programme, Unite is building a prefabrication plant in Gloucester, where completed bedroom and bathroom modules are built under factory conditions before being installed on site. This provides guaranteed quality control, improved speed of construction and cost efficiencies.
