Additional retailers in this latest round of announcements also include Arby's, McDonalds, Morgan Tire, International House of Pancakes, and Old Country Buffet.

"These retailers are enthusiastic about the opportunity to bring their products and services to the residents of the neighborhoods at Stapleton and the surrounding areas," Lehigh says. "When they open their doors in the late summer and fall of this year, they will be a welcome addition to our mixed-use community now taking shape at Stapleton."

The new Quebec Square retailers will be part of a lineup that already includes anchor stores Home Depot (scheduled to be the first to open in late June) Super Wal-Mart and Sam's Club.

Other retail commitments previously announced include Just For Feet, Borders Books, Office Depot, Linens N' Things, and Vectra Bank. Lehigh says these latest announcements bring the total space leased or purchased at Quebec Square to approximately 588,000 sf. He says lease or purchase negotiations are currently underway for an additional 100,000 sf.

Quebec Square is a regional retail center with easy access to interstate highways that include I-70 and I-270, but it also features unique pedestrian amenities designed to attract customers who walk from nearby neighborhoods and adjacent employers such as the United Air Lines Flight Training Center and the Quebec Street hotels that once served the former airport.

Lehigh says Forest City's placement of retail within convenient pedestrian access of employment centers and residential neighborhoods is a key characteristic of the mixed-use neighborhoods at Stapleton. When it is fully developed in 20 years, Stapleton is anticipated to have 12,000 homes and apartments affordably priced for a wide range of incomes, 30,000 residents, and 35,000 new jobs in 13 million sf of commercial and retail development at the former airport.
