Bart Lofts is an Emeryville-based company that has developed nearly 1,000 homes and lofts, and renovated famous buildings such as San Francisco's ClockTower and 1000 Van Ness. Bart Lofts and managing partner Holliday development recently introduced the idea of urban living in a suburban environment to Pleasanton, and found that there is a market for live-work spaces in the area.
Holliday Development and Bridge Housing Corp submitted a joint proposal under which Holliday would build 54 market-rate live/work spaces, and Bridge would build 87 affordable rental units. Coggins Square, the Bridge project, and Iron Horse Lofts share the site.
The multi-million dollar Iron Horse Loft complex includes 54 townhouse lofts designed on a typical 3-story townhouse platform, each loft side-by-side within eight separate buildings, with each building containing from three to eleven lofts. The one bedroom lofts are about 1,120-sf large. The distinctive loft features include high ceilings, open pitch and saw tooth roofs, open plan interiors, expansive windows, and architectural detailing. The lofts are priced between $380,000 and $500,000, and have been selling like hotcakes. Only three units remain for sale.
The city is considering proposals for further development in the area, including a sports club, office complex and a Marriott hotel.
