John Lehigh, chief operating officer for Forest City Stapleton says the efforts to include minority and women subcontractors in the residential construction teams at Stapleton is part of an ongoing effort by Forest City, its contractors and home builders, to ensure there is broad participation by the community in the redevelopment of Stapleton.
"Before we took title to our first parcel of land at Stapleton in May of last year, Forest City had already done more than $1 million in business with minority and women-owned companies providing a variety of professional services in engineering, design, legal and financial consulting and other work necessary for us to begin our work at Stapleton," Lehigh says. "In the first year of a redevelopment program that will span 15 to 20 years, 118 minority and women-owned businesses have been involved in helping us to create the mixed-use neighborhoods envisioned by the citizens of Denver."
In addition to houses, Stapleton will include retail, offices and parking.
