Billionaire Spurned In House of Blues Bid

DENVER-The chain of hotels and concert venues considers a bid from Philip Anschutz's Concerts West and Clear Channel group insufficient, according to a published report.

But a published report says the House of Blues turned down a bid by Anschutz's Concerts West group to buy its chain of nightclubs, amphitheaters and concert booking.

Under the deal being offered, Concerts West would take over most of HOB, including its chain of clubs, while Clear Channel would buy HOB's amphitheaters in Dallas, Atlanta and Cleveland.

Apparently the board of HOB spurned the offer because it didn't think the Concerts West/Clear Channel offer was large enough.

HOB didn't respond to a request for a comment from GlobeSt.com.
