Court rulings favorable to the commission kept the Twins from being disbanded this year, and many believe the suit represented the biggest obstacle to the team's elimination next year or in future years if plans for a stadium are not finalized.

Keeping the team in Minnesota through 2003 would give legislators a chance to pass another bill next year if the current one, passed earlier this month, doesn't lead to funding or fails to clear other hurdles.
