After a five-year squabble with neighbors, a municipal judge in Winter Park has ordered Roger Holler to remove a fence around a 10,000-sf, city-owned lot on Old England Avenue behind his $1.7 million estate. Neighbor Evelio De Hoyos, a retired physician, sued Holler on behalf of other area residents.
Holler and De Hoyos couldn't be reached at GlobeSt.com's publication deadline. But real estate lawyers in Winter Park familiar with the scenario tell GlobeSt.com Holler plans to appeal the judge's ruling. The fence, meanwhile, is down.
Prior to the court decision, Holler had planned to ask the city council to deed him the 50-foot-by-200-foot lot for free.
Land planners and independent property appraisers tell GlobeSt.com on condition of anonymity the 10,000-sf lot, a little less than a quarter of an acre in an established, high-end residential district, carries an estimated tag of $1 million per acre ($22.96 per sf) or about $250,000 for the lot.
Orange County land records show Holler bought his residence in 1996. He put up the fence in 1997.
