Washington Mutual's new location will be in the Camelback Esplanade V, a one-year-old, 230,000-sf office building at 2555 E. Camelback Rd. in Phoenix. The building currently is 60% occupied. The quoted rate is $30 per sf.

Jerry Roberts and Jim Fijan, both of the Phoenix office of CB Richard Ellis Inc., represented the building owner, Opus West Corp. of Phoenix in the lease negotiations. Tom Adelson and Kevin Calihan, also of CBRE's Phoenix office, bargained the long-term deal on the tenant's behalf.

In a prepared statement, Washington Mutual says it picked the Camelback Espanade because of its location in the heart of the tony Camelback Corridor and the office met the bank's space criteria.

The bank is a national financial services company with assets in excess of $275 billion and more than 2,400 consumer banking, mortgage lending, commercial banking, consumer finance and financial services customers.
