The creation of the three events represents a fast-track schedule for Kelley, who was brought aboard just a month go to start the division. Kelley comes to Real Estate Media--GlobeSt.com's parent organization--from Commercial Property News, where he served as publishing director of the magazine group and, prior to that, as director of its conference group. With the initiative gaining ground, Real Estate Media has strongholds in three prime communications areas: print and online publishing as well as conference programming.

The newly unveiled events will take a very different form than most conferences, says Kelley. "The goals of all of our conferences are two-fold," he explains. "First, they are an informational series--in the case of the first three events, exploring local deals and deal-making trends presented in a focused fashion by the industry experts who are making those deals." The conference subjects will be expanded in 2003, he adds, to include various investment and finance issues and both prime and niche property sectors.

"But the conferences are also designed to be highly targeted networking events," he continues, "designed to put major players together in a relaxed yet informative venue."

While the groundwork has been laid, Kelley explains that there is still work to be done. "We're currently constructing advisory boards to help finalize the agendas and provide input on which sessions and speakers will generate the greatest interest," Kelley explains.
