At the end of this year, the staff of the board of education will relocate to the Churchill Community Education Center. Churchill will still house the continuing education programs, English-as-a-second-language program, opportunity center, business training center and staff development.
"Having the board office located at Churchill will save the district approximately $150,000 a year," says Steven Gaynor, district superintendent. "We're pleased that Beaumont is interested in leasing the building because that will generate income for the district to help meet the needs of our students."
The school district and Beaumont have a tradition of successful youth-oriented partnerships, Gaynor says. The lease agreement is an extension of a cooperative relationship between the district and the hospital.
