With a final day of service on June 21, the Denver TA Station's retail and customer services operations move to the Denver Downtown Main Post Office, at 951 20th St.; and reopen for service there June 22.
The Denver Downtown Main Station at 20th and Curtis Streets will have new and expanded customer retail service hours to accommodate both former Terminal Annex Station and all Downtown Denver postal customers.
A total of 544 TA customer post office boxes will move to the Downtown Station.
The US Postal Service announced plans to sell the 406,000-sf four-story Terminal Annex property in February 2001. US Postal Service is still negotiating the sale, with an announcement expected soon.
The Terminal Annex building and post office first opened in 1960. The Denver TA building formerly housed the major mail processing operations for Colorado. More than 2,200 postal employees worked there during the height of its activity during the mid-1980s.
However, the Denver TA was replaced in September 1990 with the opening of the 600,000-sf Denver mail processing center in Commerce City, CO. Most postal workers and operations moved to the new facility then. In recent years, the Denver TA has served as a retail postal station and housed a small number of postal support operations.
