The renovation calls for the conversion into administration offices, research space and classrooms. A phased-in delivery begins in August, with completion in December.

"This is a fast-track project with an ambitious budget, perfectly suited for design/build project delivery. We are looking forward to integrating 'green building' concepts and 'off-the-shelf' products into the facility," said Craig Kennedy, principal with Pearson-English.Texas A&M University at Galveston is an ocean-oriented campus offering education, research and public service in marine engineering, marine biology, oceanography, business, and marine transport.

Pearson-English recently was accorded the Award for Community Enhancement or ACE by the Houston Chapter of the Appraisal Institute, Houston/Gulf Coast CCIM Chapter and FIABC for the redevelopment of a church in the Sixth Ward.

The church at 1919 Decatur was constructed in 1891. It is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. The firm converted the church into a modern office building while leaving in place many historic finishes, including the stained glass and original flooring.
