Gold Circuit specializes in recycling computers, point-of-sale products, banking and communications equipment. Rich Sica of the Phoenix office of DAUM Commercial Real Estate Services tells GlobeSt.com that the firm bought in Chandler, in part, because there were few, if any, parcels sized just right for its building plans in Tempe. The Gold Circuit headquarters and production site is a 5.4-acre tract at 210 S. Beck Ave.
The move caps a year of construction. Sun State Builders of Tempe has served as the developer of the project, designed by Dickinson Architects of Phoenix.
"Electronic equipment recycling is occurring much more rapidly today and we simply needed more room and the capacity for enhanced state-of-the-art operations," Jim Greenberg, Gold Circuit president, said in a prepared statement. "This move also allows us to streamline and consolidate everything under one roof for greater efficiency.
The facility will house 43 employees. The headquarters building is concrete tilt-up with 26-foot clear heights, nine dock-high loading positions and 5,000 sf of office space.
Sica says user-owned building purchases are on the rise despite the sad state of the leasing market. With such low interest rates, users who previously couldn't afford to own their own buildings are taking flight from leased space, he adds.
Sica steered the project from the site selection to the closing table when Gold Circuit got the deed. He also represented the development team in the transaction.
