"There were too many questions that needed to be answered," Stephen Kerlin, the town planner, tells GlobeSt.com. The town is seeking a mixed-use zoning designation for a 70-acre parcel that is currently zoned industrial; a 52-acre parcel that is currently zoned single family; and, a 12-acre parcel that is currently zoned commercial.

Kerlin says that this was the town's petition in response to a developer's request to put housing on the land. "The town went ahead and looked at the site and felt that housing would be appropriate," he says. But residents didn't agree and when their questions regarding the new zoning's impact on the town, which is largely residential, could not be answered the petition was withdrawn and will be resubmitted in the fall.
