In 2000, city officials approached Cosmos, a Bellevue-based developer, to redevelop two parcels of land owned by the city. The company delivered a proposal to build a $100 million, 1.2 million-sf residential, commercial and lodging complex.
Many have criticized the proposal, saying it will take away from Downtown business and flood the office market with 750,000-sf of new space. The city council will vote in the next few weeks on whether or not it will request proposals from other companies or continue to work exclusively with Cosmos.
