The project involved converting a 1970s-era, three-story office building into a new neighborhood school. It was recognized for having good scale and use of materials as well as creative use of colors and textures. The award was given to the architectural firm TSP Five Inc; Amy Spatz, with the facilities department at the Aurora Public Schools; the school principal Laura Brinkman and JHL Constructors Inc.
Tall Pines at Tallyn's Reach, a 46-home community in southeast Aurora, was honored for environmental sensitivity, use of non-symmetry in elevations and use of proportion of windows and materials above the masonry base. Gene Myers of Greener Homes and Tom Morton of the land developer, Carma Development, received the award.
