The 100,000-sf building was recently vacated by Selectron. The remaining 25,000 sf is currently vacant but Amersham has an option to lease it. The company will use the space to consolidate two recently acquired filtration separation companies, Needham, MA-based AGTech and Marlborough, MA-based InnovaSep. "With this consolidation, Amersham Biosciences has positioned itself to become a major player in membrane separation as well as overall downstream purification in biotechnology," said Attila Herczeg, vice president, Membrane Separations, a division of the company.
Amersham Biosciences wanted to settle in this area because, it says in a release, it "is appropriate for its laboratory, manufacturing and office needs" and its proximity to Boston-area schools, enabling it to draw on that talent pool.
