Franchisee KremeWorks Washington is seeking a master use permit from the city to build a 4,300-sf store at Aurora Avenue North and North 125th Street. It will rise in front of a Lowe's store, says Tim Jewett, of the Everett-based Dykeman Architects. Dykeman is currently working on six Krispy Kreme stores in the Northwest. A 2,542-sf Jack-in-the-Box and 68 surface parking spaces also are planned for the site.

Jewett says they are looking to "embrace the car culture" in that particular location, and possibly putting the Krispy Kreme panel truck on permanent display, in addition to making the space more pedestrian-friendly.

KremeWorks also has signed a lease for a proposed building at First Avenue South and South Holgate Street in Seattle's Sodo neighborhood. That particular location will include a company headquarters and roughly 5,000 additional sf, Jewett says.

Krispy Kreme debuted in Issaquah last fall. Site selection has been a combination of what's available, what can be negotiated and demographics, Jewett says. Public comment is being take on the proposed master use permit for the North Seattle site until Aug. 7. If all goes as planned, construction of the North Seattle site is expected to begin in October.
