The renovations included a cascading waterfall added to the 10-story atrium lobby, an expanded glass dome entrance for the atrium and upgrades to public areas, such as stonework, cherry wood, marble, cobalt blue carpeting and lighting fixtures. A roofline design involving a color change and detailing highlighted the exterior makeover.
"There is a long history of successful partnerships between Marriott and John Q. Hammons Hotels," John Q. Hammons, founder, chairman and CEO, said in a press release. The conversion "further enhances" the partnership while obviously benefiting guests, properties and owners, he added.
The hotel contains 21,500 sf of meeting space in 13 rooms and two ballrooms. It also features two restaurants, retail area, health-and-fitness center and indoor pool. According to Harris County tax records, the four-story hotel was developed by John Q. Hammons in 1985.
