The bookseller will not release the length or value of the land lease, but the new store will be completed in April 2003. The tract is part of the Palm Valley Pavilions West retail development. Other national tenants include Best Buy, Linens N' Things, Ross Dress for Less and Pier I.
Tom Woods and Larry Ortega, both of the Phoenix office of Colliers International, structured the lease for the landowner, SunCor Development Co. of Tempe. Nick Cristitulli of the Cristitulli Corp. represented Barnes & Noble at the bargaining table. The book chain, including the B. Dalton branding, has at least 19 stores in Arizona, including one that's under construction in Scottsdale.
