John F. Hennessey, principal of GVA Thompson Doyle Hennessey & Everest represented HNTB in the transaction. The company says it chose the building because of its prime location, the "strong, involved ownership, an attractive economic lease package, and its reputation as one of the most prestigious towers" in the city. The building is owned and managed by Brookfield Financial Properties Inc.

In addition to Sovereign, the building's office tenants include Kirkpatrick & Lockhart, Wellington Management Co., Thomas Lee, Advent Financial and TAC Partners. Its retail tenants include Brooks Brothers, Hunter Southworth's Market, Rebecca's and Harper.

Established in 1914, HNTB is a multi-disciplined firm involved in transportation, bridges, aviation, architecture, urban design and planning, environmental engineering, construction services and design-build. Previously operating as a partnership, HNTB reorganized its architectural, engineering, planning, constructing and design/build divisions under a corporate structure in 1993. Locally, the company did the design for the recently constructed Leonard P. Zakim Bridge, the new crossing of the Charles River that is part of the Central Artery/Tunnel project.
