Jeff Peden of the Houston office of Cushman & Wakefield of Texas Inc. tells GlobeSt.com that the parcel will be used for the development of a Walgreens retail store. Details about the construction timeframe weren't available by press time. Peden along with David L. Cook and Todd A. Mason, also of Cushman & Wakefield, represented the seller, ARCO Midcon LLC. Alan Parker of Alan Parker Properties handled negotiations for SunCor.
The Walgreen Co. is a Deerfield, IL-based national retail pharmacy chain of 3,785 stores. Texas has 380 of the locations. According to Harris County tax records, SunCor's other Houston holdings are retail buildings, each about 14,400 sf in size, at 9450 Hammerly Blvd. and 12907 Veterans Memorial Blvd. The Arizona-based developer also owns 263,508 sf of raw commercial land along Space Center Boulevard in Houston.
