Cendant to Cut Loose 300 Hotels

NEW YORK CITY-Substandard properties and late-payers were told last week that they are to be eliminated from the franchisor's massive inventory. The move is part of a new initiative that will shrink the company's domestic franchises by 7%.

Called Project Restore, the program is designed to rid Cendant of substandard quality hotels as well as franchisees that have defaulted on fee payments. The first 300 properties were notified of the decision last week.

Cendant hotel group brands include Super 8, Days Inn, Ramada, Travelodge, Howard Johnson, Knights Inn, Villager, Wingate Inn and AmeriHost Inn.
