La Michoacana operates 40 stores in Texas, of which about 10 are in Dallas. Luis Pina, vice president of Dallas-based Henry S. Miller Commercial's International Group, tells GlobeSt.com that the plan is to have the Fort Worth store up and running no later than midyear 2003.
Pina represented La Michoacana in the search and negotiations for the site at 201 and 209 NW. 28th St. Ted St. Clair Jr. of the Richard D. Minker Co. in Irving brokered the deal for the seller, Lucky Lady Oil Co. Pina says the property was on the market for quite awhile.
Pina's group was formed three years ago to act as a liaison between businesses in Mexico and US seeking across-the-border opportunities. La Michoacana is one of several specialty ethnic grocers now expanding in North Texas.
