The complex is right near the Longwood Medical Area, district home to a concentration of health care institutions. The project includes 116,500 sf of office space pre-leased to Partners HealthCare Systems, a 30,000-sf Stop & Shop supermarket and 32,000 sf of retail space. Partners, a group of teaching hospitals affiliated with Harvard Medical School, is taking the space for 15 years.
The project also includes two large public spaces: the Village Square, a pedestrian plaza facing Brigham Circle; and Upper Ledge Park, 5.5 acres of open public space. The development is a joint venture of Mission Hill Neighborhood Housing Services, NDC Development Associates and New Boston Fund. Equity capital was arranged by NDC Development Associates from New Boston Fund.
Construction started in the fourth quarter of 2001.
