According to a published report, the grocer is currently deep into negotiations for five different locations, one here and the others in Westfield, Franklin Twp., Livingston and Short Hills. Gristede's, which currently operates 42 stores in New York City, Long Island and Westchester County, NY-most of them in Manhattan-says it has a budget of $25 million to open at least 10 stores. The company is looking for existing buildings in the range of 25,000 to 30,000 sf.
