Gilpatric when asked by GlobeSt.com about the status of the hotel venture, said, "We are talking with someone in earnest." He adds that the parties are now undertaking a feasibility study on the hotel at the Bank Street Commons site. He said that a decision on the hotel is expected by this fall.

He would not divulge the name of the hotel operator or if the firm is studying building a short-term or extended stay facility at the site.

Construction began earlier this year on the project that will eventually consist of two tower buildings consisting of 500 luxury rental apartments, approximately 6,400 square feet of retail space and a 500-car parking garage. While LCOR has obtained site plan approval from the City of White Plains for a 100,000-sf, 200-room hotel at the 2.6-acre site adjacent to the White Plains Metro North station, no construction work related to the hotel facility has commenced thus far.

The first tower is expected to be completed by the spring of 2003 and the second tower building should be finished by early 2004, LCOR officials maintain.

HRH Construction is the construction manager for the project. The topping off ceremony was held for the North Tower, which stands 21-stories. The second tower, which is also being built simultaneously, will be 22 stories high when completed.

JPMorgan is a joint venture partner on Bank Street Commons. LCOR teamed up with RMAP, a partnership between Robert Martin Co. of Elmsford and Jack Parker Corp. of New York City, the designated developer for the Bank Street Commons development, in December 2001.

Gilpatric, White Plains Mayor Joseph Delfino, Greg Cuneo, chairman of HRH Construction and Edward Doyle, president of the Building & Construction Trades Council of Westchester and Putnam Counties, spoke at the event and praised the construction trades for their efforts at the site. The project is at currently "on time and under budget," according to LCOR officials. They also paid tribute to Richard Ellis, 40, a member of the Westchester & Putnam Plumbers & Steamfitters Local Union No. 21, who was killed on the Bank Street Commons job site on June 17 by a bundle of falling rebar that became dislodged from a crane.
