A La-Z-Boy Furniture Gallery is going up at the intersection of US Highway 59 and Texas 6 in the First Colony neighborhood. The gallery, the manufacturer's only official La-Z-Boy showroom in town, will be completed in March 2003.

Don Smith of Transwestern Property Co. represented the buyer. G. Peter Jacob was the in-house representative for the seller, Sugarland Properties Inc.

In other retail activity, Bed Bath & Beyond leased 20,564 sf at the Dowlen Towne Centre at the northwest corner of Dowlen Road and Folsom Drive in Beaumont, TX, a city northeast of Houston. Steven A. Lieberman and Steve Greenberg, both of Dallas-based Weitzman Group, represents the national client in its Texas transactions. The building owner is the Seitz Group.
