"The Lynchburg Industrial Development Authority will manage the construction of the building, get permits and oversee the project," Bausch & Lomb's Lynchburg center director of operations Allen Barr tells GlobeSt.com. "A general contractor for the project should be determined next week. Upon completion, LIDA will hand over the property to us in the form of a leasing agreement."
Barr declined comment on the development's estimated cost. Bausch & Lomb built the existing 38,000-sf building in 1993 for $3 million. The company had contemplated locating the new expansion in Missouri, New York or South Carolina, but Virginia came out ahead in the competition.
