Waltham Woods, which is owned by NY-based Clarion Corp., consists of two, class A multi-tenanted office buildings totaling 391,654 sf. The three-story buildings were recently constructed in the heart of the Route 128 submarket. The brokers involved would not release the lease rate but space in the area is averaging $30 per sf.
Boyle tells GlobeSt.com that given current market conditions, there was a lot of interest in the space. "It's not like it was two years ago," he says, "but for this market, [interest in this space] was uniquely competitive." Doyle attributes the interest to the quality of the buildings and the central location.
Boyle says that this extra space "long term expansion that, upon reflection, BMC won't need." The company still leases 175,000-sf in the building for its regional headquarters.
