Among other things, the new location, which will accommodate several hundred postal employees, will at least temporarily take over the operations of the USPS facility in Hamilton Twp., NJ. The latter facility was at the center of the anthrax scare of late last year and early this year. The Monroe site will function for now as the Hamilton Post Office, which is currently undergoing a clean-up and is being readied for reoccupancy, according to Vito J. Cetta, district manager and executive-in-charge of the Central New Jersey Performance Cluster of the USPS.

"In order to clarify some of the confusion over the lease signing, it is important to note that even with the temporary closing of the Hamilton post office facility, no existing mail or equipment will be transferred from the Hamilton location," Cetta explains. He adds that the Monroe facility will be outfitted with new state-of-the art mail-sorting equipment and will for now handle outgoing mail exclusively from the 085- and 086-zip codes in Central New Jersey.

Over the last two years, Matrix has signed some 2.5 million sf in industrial leases in the Exit 8A submarket. Over the past two decades, the company has also built facilities for such users as Sony, Grainger, Lenox, the Associated Press and Seamans, among others.
