The Dallas-based Weitzman Group has named David Nicolson as president of its San Antonio office. In Austin, David Sour joined NAI Commercial Industrial Properties Co. as an industrial broker.

Nicolson, who has been with the Weitzman operation in San Antonio since 1992, replaces Mike Birnbaum, who headed the office as executive vice president. Birnbaum has started his own firm, according to a Weitzman contact.

As president of the office, Nicolson will direct the brokerage team and work with the development and management staff at Cencor Realty Services, Weitzman's management and development services affiliate. Nicolson also will oversee Weitzman's new business generation in San Antonio.

"David stands out as one of the most professional and client-oriented real estate professionals in the Texas market," Herbert Weitzman, chairman and CEO, said in a press release. "Our company is fortunate to be able to utilize his skills in the growth of the San Antonio office." Prior to joining Weitzman, Nicolson was with the San Antonio office of Dallas-based Trammell Crow Co.

At NAI CIP, Sour brings 28 years of experience in high-tech business, retail and real estate. He previously worked at Republic Commercial Properties as an associate in commercial sales and leasing. He also was owner and operator of a multi-unit Smoothie franchise in Austin and worked as program and project manager at Arrowsmith Technologies Inc., as well as IT manager and comptroller at Southland Printing Co. Inc.

Sour will work as a representative for tenants and building owners. His previous clients include American Pro-Coverage Insurance, Paramount Remodeling & Roofing, Cherry Creek Plaza Associates, Lake Shore Radiator and American Fidelity Mortgage.
